Privacy Policy
Last updated 31 August 2026
The short version. We store the kitchen data you enter and the email address you sign up with. We don't run analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. We don't sell anything to anyone. Your photos and questions are sent to Anthropic so the AI features can work, and nothing else leaves the service. You can delete your account and everything in it.
Who we are
Smart AI Kitchen is operated by SoftProgrammer. If you have a question about this policy or your data, email privacy@smartaikitchen.com.
What we collect
Only what the app needs to work:
- Your account — email address, a name if you give one, and a password. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider; we never see or store the plain text.
- Your kitchen — the ingredients, utensils, equipment, locations, quantities and notes you enter.
- Photos you upload — of items and storage locations, plus any screenshot you choose to attach to feedback.
- Your conversations with the AI chef.
- Basic technical data — the standard information any web server records, such as IP address and browser type, kept for security and troubleshooting.
Counting page views
We count how many times each public page is opened — for example, that the pricing page was viewed 40 times today. That is the entire record: a page address, a date, and a number.
We do not record who viewed it. No IP address, no cookie, no device or browser fingerprint, no session, no way to connect one view to another or to you. It is a counter on a page, not a profile of a person, and it runs on our own servers rather than through anyone else.
Google Analytics — only if you agree
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find the site. It sets cookies and sends data to Google, so we ask first: on your first visit you'll see a choice, and nothing analytics-related loads unless you select Allow. Choose “No thanks” and the script is never loaded at all.
If you do allow it, we've configured it for measurement rather than advertising: ad storage, ad personalisation and ad user data are all switched off.
You can change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser, which resets the choice.
What we don't collect
No advertising identifiers. No social media pixels. No location tracking. No analytics of any kind unless you agreed to it. We don't buy data about you from anyone else, and we don't sell or rent your data.
Aside from Google Analytics if you allow it, the only cookies we set are the ones that keep you signed in. The page counting described above sets nothing on your device and runs whatever you choose.
Who your data is shared with
Three service providers, each for one specific job:
- Supabase — hosts the database, authentication and file storage. Your kitchen data and photos live here.
- Anthropic — provides the AI. When you ask the chef a question, upload a photo for identification, or use the AI search, the relevant content is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response.
- Resend — sends the emails, such as sign-up confirmations and kitchen invitations.
That is the complete list. We share data with no one else, except where we are legally required to.
The AI features specifically
When you use the AI chef, photo identification or AI search, we send the relevant data — your question, the photo, or your item names — to Anthropic to produce an answer. We send only what the feature needs. Anthropic processes it to generate the response.
Sharing your kitchen with other people
If you invite someone to your kitchen, they can see and (depending on the access you give them) change your inventory, locations and shopping list.
Your AI conversations are never shared, even with people who have full access to your kitchen. You can remove someone's access at any time from the Members page.
Printed QR codes
The app can produce printable QR codes for a fridge. Anyone who scans one can use the feature it is for, without signing in — that is the point of them, and it is worth understanding before you print one:
- Shopping code — can add items to your shopping list and see what is on it.
- Chef code — can ask recipe questions, which are answered using your inventory.
- Stocktake code — additionally requires an access code you keep separate, and can change quantities but cannot delete anything.
You can revoke all of them at any time from the Shopping page, which immediately stops every printed sheet from working.
How long we keep things
Your data stays until you delete it. Delete an item and it goes. Delete your account and we remove your kitchen data, photos and conversations. Backups may hold copies for a short period before rotating out.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data. Most of it you can change directly in the app; for anything else, email privacy@smartaikitchen.com and we will action it.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a regulator. We honour these regardless of where you are. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access is enforced at the database level, so one account cannot read another's kitchen. Photos are kept in private storage and served through short-lived links rather than public URLs.
No system is perfect. If we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will tell you.
Children
Smart AI Kitchen isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Material changes will be notified by email.
